| 1860 | JG | with dot in curve of snake's tail. During the siege of Guadalajara in 1860, General Severo del Castillo ordered coins to be minted with a confiscated silver. The engraver Albino del Moral secretly marked these coins with a dot on the loop of the snake’s tail. After the fall of the city, the government issued decrees to withdraw the rebel coins, which explains their low survival rate. (illustrated below) | |

Counterfeit
counterfeit KM-unlisted 8r 1832 AG D (Briggs & Bustos Counterfeit issues, 22 February 2025, lot 39)
Struck in bronze. Interesting minimalist engraving of eagle with curious mound and nopal, reverse legend atypical for the mintmark AG, probably a mistake by the engraver whose intention was to engrave GA.
