Consultorio Quirurgico
This hospital, located at 1a de Parrodi 2, was operated by the German doctor, Gustavo Pagenstecher.
Worthy of special attention is undoubtedly the Surgical Clinic that Dr. Pagenstecher has established in San Luis Potosí, where with a medical thoroughness, applauded by those who have visited this establishment, only patients destined for surgery are attended, the entry of any contagious patient being strictly prohibited. No doubt this is partly due to the great reputation which Dr. Pagenstecher has as an operator in all the states of the interior, and even abroad, for we have before us the respectable opinion of Dr. Potain, of Paris, with regard to the difficult operation of trepanation which he performed on Mr. Rafael Gutierrez Barrenechea, well-known in San Luis Potosí and about which the Parisian doctor says: "that it is the most perfect and scientific operation of this kind that can be done." The clinic we are referring to is divided into two departments: (1) Private Department. (2) Charity Department. In the first, private patients are cared for and in the second, there are 14 beds always occupied by indigent patientsEl Mundo Ilustrado, Ano VII, Tomo II, Núm 7, 12 August 1900.

Sociedad Potosina
The Sociedad Potosina La Lonja is a private club in the English tradition of a gentlemen's club located at calle de Ignacio Aldama número 310, in the historic centre. It had its origins in 1851, when La Lonja Potosina was created as a recreation and meeting place for members, located on the second floor of the current Municipal Palace. After thirteen years, La Lonja closed, but in 1868 it was decided to reestablish the organisation and on 19 June 1868, the Sociedad Potosina La Lonja began activities.
Since 1877, the Sociedad Potosina has occupied the building in which it remains to this day: a two-storey house on calle de la Moneda (now calle Aldama) at its intersection with calle Madero. It remains a meeting place for high society.
